Tankless water heaters are safe and reliable when they are installed and maintained correctly. Please read this before installing any product you buy from us.
Tankless Water Heater Shop is an online retailer. We do not install, repair or service water heaters, and we do not send technicians. Our guides explain how products work and what installers look for, but they are not installation instructions. Always follow the manufacturer’s installation manual for your exact model.
Gas-fired water heaters produce carbon monoxide (CO), an odorless gas that can be fatal. Use only the vent materials and lengths allowed in the manual, never block vents or air intakes, and install CO alarms in your home as required by local code. If you smell gas, leave the building immediately and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
Water above 120°F (49°C) can cause scalds quickly, especially for children and older adults. Set the temperature as low as practical. Some fixtures benefit from anti-scald or thermostatic mixing valves.
Water left in a unit or its pipes can freeze and crack the heat exchanger. Follow the manufacturer’s freeze-protection guidance, keep outdoor units powered in cold weather, and drain units in unheated spaces before freezing temperatures. Freeze damage is generally excluded from warranties.
Hard water causes scale buildup that reduces efficiency and can damage the heat exchanger. Follow the manufacturer’s descaling schedule. See our flushing guide.
Some products, including brass fittings and appliance components, may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm. Where required, products carry a Prop 65 warning on the listing or packaging. More information: www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
