Warranty coverage for water heaters comes from the manufacturer. Here is what that means for your order and how we help when something goes wrong.
Water heaters and accessories sold by Tankless Water Heater Shop are covered by the manufacturer’s limited warranty where one is offered. The warranty terms, length and coverage are set by the manufacturer, not by us, and are listed on each product page or in the product’s documentation. Typical tankless water heater warranties have separate terms for the heat exchanger, parts and labor, and they differ for residential and commercial use.
| Condition | Warranty |
|---|---|
| New | Full manufacturer’s limited warranty, starting from the date of purchase or installation as defined by the manufacturer |
| Open box | Manufacturer’s warranty where the manufacturer honors it for open-box units; the coverage is stated on the product page |
| Refurbished | The warranty stated on the product page, which may be the refurbisher’s or manufacturer’s warranty and is often shorter than for new units |
If a product page does not state a warranty, contact us before you buy and we will confirm it in writing. See our product condition policy for what each condition means.
Manufacturers commonly require the following for warranty coverage. Always read the specific warranty for your model.
Warranties generally do not cover damage caused by improper installation, freezing, accidents, misuse, unauthorized repairs or modifications, incorrect gas type or voltage, water quality outside the manufacturer’s limits, or normal wear. Labor, installation and removal costs are covered only when the manufacturer’s warranty includes them.
This policy does not limit any implied warranties or other rights you have under federal or state law, including the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
