Editorial policy

How we research

Our guides are written by the Tankless Water Heater Shop Editorial Team using manufacturer specification sheets, installation manuals and warranty documents, U.S. Department of Energy and ENERGY STAR resources, national plumbing and fuel-gas code concepts, and published cost surveys. We explain the reasoning behind each recommendation so you can check it against your own home.

What we don’t do

• We do not publish fake reviews, star ratings or testimonials.
• We do not claim to have lab-tested products unless a guide says exactly how they were tested.
• Brand guides describe product lines and specifications; they are not paid placements. We sell some of the brands we write about, and we say so where it matters.
• We do not give advice that requires a site visit, such as exact gas line or vent sizing. We tell you when a licensed professional is needed.

Prices and specifications

Cost ranges are national estimates for the United States at the time of the last update and can vary widely by region, home and installer. Product specifications can change; the manufacturer’s documentation and our product pages are the final reference.

Updates and corrections

Every guide shows the date it was last updated. We review guides when codes, products, incentives or prices change. If you spot an error, email Help@tankless-water-heater.shop and we will review and correct it.
